Enes HANCIOĞLU, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Deputy Country Director to the Philippines and Kaan Mahmut DEMÍREL, Expert Engineer visited the on-going infra projects in Central Mindanao on August 5-6, 2018 for monitoring and validation purposes.

The officials went to Brgy. Mother Bagua in Cotabato City where 4-classroom school building is being constructed and to Camp Darapanan in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, a community-recipient of birthing clinic.

Said projects along with other infrastructures that are also underway in the provinces Lanao del Sur, and Davao Oriental are funded by the TIKA of the Turkey Government.

Mohammad S. Yacob, executive director of the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) together with the agency’s officers Engr. Rahib Labay, Engr. Amil Kali, Engr. Abdulgaffar Sundang and Walid Iskak accompanied the visitors during the trip.

BDA is managing the implementation of these infra projects that is in line with the continuing commitment of the Turkey Government to extend support to the Bangsamoro.

This infra project from Turkey is very significant for Bangsamoro as it will help address the gaps on lack of health and education facilities especially in the remote areas where access to basic services is a common problem of many underserved communities.

As per the Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP), huge development gaps in the Bangsamoro is a reality.

There are only two doctors in every 10,000 Bangsamoro population and that seven in ten students will not finish high school.

Accordingly, poverty and lack of facilities is among the major causes of this problem.

It is informed that TIKA officials will also visit other project sites in the provinces mentioned above.
