Strengthening Capacities for Reproductive Health Service Delivery and Advocacy in the Bangsamoro
The partnership was signed in 2015 with the common goal to improve the delivery of health services in the Bangsamoro, specifically on reproductive aspect. Component of the project included the baseline study on reproductive health in the Bangsamoro, where a service provider was contracted to conduct the study. The Institute of the Bangsamoro Studies (IBS) did the research intended to gather data and information regarding reproductive health needs and status in the region.
Part also of the project approach was the conduct of related trainings on reproductive health for the medical team of health facility in Maguindanao, and for the members of BIWAB health unit.
Ligtas Buntis was organized for pregnant women in the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur and Island province where various services on reproductive health was provided for the beneficiaries. Expecting mothers also received health kits that were useful in promoting proper hygiene for the women and their children during and after pregnancy. Health Fair was also a medical mission conducted not only for the pregnant women, but also came along with other basic health services that benefited hundreds in Maguindanao.
The program also intended to advocate the fatwa on reproductive health in Islam where information materials about the teachings were printed.
Provision of medical equipment to improve the services of local health facilities in Maguindanao, specifically the Amanah Birthing Clinic in Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat was also significant component of the project.
